The Presidency and the Election Commission have agreed to hold the general elections on February 8, 2024. According to the statement released on X, on today's order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Sikandar Sultan Raja, Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan and four members of the Election Commission of Pakistan along with President Dr. Arif in the President's House. In the meeting, the date for holding the next general elections in the country was discussed. The President praised the progress made by the Election Commission regarding constituencies and elections. After a detailed discussion, the meeting unanimously agreed to hold general elections in the country on February 8, 2024.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan fixed the date of 11th February for the general elections.

The Election Commission sent a letter to the President regarding the final date. In the letter, the Election Commission suggested that the general elections will be held on February 11. It should be remembered that on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a delegation headed by the Chief Election Commissioner met with the President of the State Arif Alvi in ​​the President's House. The Attorney General also participated in the meeting. were

On this occasion, the Chief Election Commissioner gave a briefing about the constituencies after the census and then the arrangements for the election. The process of constituencies will be completed on November 30, while the Election Commission will release the final list of constituencies on December 5.

The Election Commission has set three dates before the President for the general elections. The dates of 28th January, 4th February and 11th February were placed before the President, all three dates have been Sundays, 11th February has been declared as a suitable date for the election by the Election Commission. A suitable time will be found, then holding the election on Sunday will give more people an opportunity to vote.

The President and the Election Commission will present the report of the consultation process regarding the election dates to the Supreme Court tomorrow. According to the sources of the President's House, during the meeting in the President's House, the constitutional and legal matters for the date of the election were reviewed, the Election Commission placed three dates before the President, the constitutional requirement of time for the election campaign was kept in mind. According to the media, later the Chief Election Commissioner sent a letter to the President regarding the meeting at the Election Commission office and the final date of the Election Commission, in which the Election Commission suggested that the general elections will be held on February 11.
