The problem for me is that I can't pick Kuldeep Yadav because he is in another team: Chief selector
Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq's remarks drew laughter from the conference hall at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Friday when he innocently expressed his inability to "select" Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Inzamam-ul-Haq was asked to share his thoughts on Shadab Khan's performance and the reasons behind his inclusion in the World Cup 2023 squad despite his poor performances in recent matches.
Pakistan have announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in India in October and November. Hasan Ali was replaced by fast bowler Naseem Shah. He suffered a shoulder injury during the Asia Cup 2023 match against India on 11 September and was ruled out of the tournament.
Shadab's inclusion in the team surprised everyone as he failed to make it to the recently concluded regional event while Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged the player of the tournament.
Kuldeep Yadav was also instrumental in his team's win against Pakistan in the Super 4 clash, where he took five wickets. The same concerns were raised with Inzamam-ul-Haq today when he announced the squad. Inzamam-ul-Haq replied, "The problem for me is that I can't pick Kuldeep Yadav because he is in another team", a statement that drew laughter from the audience.
