Sources from the Petroleum Division have learned that the price of crude oil has decreased by 2 percent in the global market, from $101 per barrel to $99 per barrel, while the value of the rupee against the dollar has also fallen by 10.5 rupees. There has been an increase, due to which the prices of petroleum products can be reduced from October 1.

However, sources from the Petroleum Division have said that there is no possibility of a large reduction in the prices in case of increasing the petroleum levy, but even if the petroleum levy is maintained, there is a strong possibility of a reduction of 18 rupees per liter. But Rs 60 per liter petroleum development levy is being collected, similarly Rs 50 per liter levy tax is being collected on diesel while about Rs 22 to 23 per liter customs duty is also being collected on petrol and diesel.
