World Cup, Sri Lanka target 280 runs to win against Bangladesh

In the 38th match of the World Cup, Sri Lanka has given Bangladesh a target of 280 runs to win. When the Sri Lankan team started batting, the first wicket fell on the total score of 5, the opener Kushal Perera returned to the pavilion after scoring 4 runs. After that, 61 runs were scored in the second wicket partnership, but in the 11th over, captain Kushal Mendes got out after scoring 19 runs.






The third out was opener Patham Nissanka who played an innings of 41 runs. 63 runs were scored in the fourth wicket partnership but here Sudira Samara Wickrama lost his wicket for 41 runs. Angelo Mathews was called out by the umpire for not batting at the stipulated time and returned to the pavilion without facing a ball. According to the law, the new batter has to face the ball within 2 minutes, Angelo Mathews had a broken helmet strap, the twelfth player was late in bringing a new helmet, which led to the umpire giving him out. 

Sri Lanka added 78 runs in the sixth wicket partnership, Dinanjaya De Silva was stumped for 34 runs. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat, the match is being played in Delhi. Bangladesh have included Tanzid Tamim in place of Mustafizur Rahman while Sri Lanka have replaced Dimuth Karunaratne and Himanta with Kushal Perera and Dinan Jaya de Silva. This match is crucial for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to qualify for Champions Trophy 2025.
