An official announcement has been made regarding the holiday on Wednesday in view of the current situation.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar chaired a special meeting last week under the presidency of Mohsin Naqvi to discuss the matter of declaring a public holiday on Wednesday in relation to anti-smog measures.

In light of the smog situation, a final announcement has been made regarding the public holiday on Wednesday. Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a special meeting was held last week to discuss anti-smog measures, and it was decided to declare this Wednesday a holiday. According to the details, in view of the smog conditions, educational institutions in Punjab have decided not to have a holiday this Wednesday.





A special meeting regarding anti-smog measures was held today in the Chief Minister's Office under the chairmanship of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, in which provincial ministers also participated. Provincial Ministers SM Tanveer, Dr. Javed Akram, Aamir Mir, Mansoor Qadir, Dr. Jamal Nasir, Bilal Afzal, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Advisor Kunwar Dilshad, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries Agriculture, Health, Finance, Environment, Construction. Communication, Transport, Local Government, School Education, Industry, Commissioner Lahore Division and environmental experts participated in the meeting.

In the meeting, it was agreed not to have a holiday on Wednesday based on the improvement in air quality index. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed the Inspector General of Police and Secretary Transport to continue effective crackdown against the vehicles leaving Kodhwaan. The Chief Minister directed that indiscriminate action should be continued against the brick kilns and factories which cause smog.

Factories emitting more than the prescribed amount of smoke and burning tires will be sealed. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi ordered the commissioners and deputy commissioners to take strong action against those who burn crop residue. Immediate action will be taken against those selling substandard fuel. The Chief Minister further directed that the district administration should sprinkle water on the roads continuously. Covering of sand and gravel and sprinkling of water will be mandatory for construction activities. He said that legal action should be taken against the measures that cause smog. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi ordered all the concerned departments to take effective measures for AQI control.
