Sialkot Police claimed this morning that well-known journalist and TV anchor Imran Riaz Khan has reached his home safely. Imran Riaz was arrested on May 9, two days after violent protests across the country following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
After his arrest, he was last taken to Cantt Police Station and later to Sialkot Jail. Then on May 15, a law officer told the Lahore High Court that journalist Imran Riaz was released from jail after giving a written affidavit. However, since his arrest, he never returned home and had no idea of his whereabouts and condition.
A case was filed in the court for their recovery and the authorities in the court kept expressing ignorance about their whereabouts. On September 20, the Lahore High Court, during a hearing, had given the Punjab Police chief a "last chance" to recover Riyadh by September 26. Imran Riaz's lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, while speaking to BBC, said that he had a three-hour long meeting with Imran Riaz at his residence after his recovery, claiming that Imran Riaz's physical and mental condition.
