17.17% of electricity was generated from gas, 7.60% from imported LNG. In August, 4.51% of electricity was generated from coal, 10.26% from imported coal. In August, 12.79% of electricity was generated from nuclear fuel. In the same month, the production cost of electricity was Rs 8.47 paise per unit. The reference cost of electricity for August was fixed at Rs 6 64 paise. On the other hand, the electricity consumers of Karachi are also likely to be given a shock of 440 volts.

By including the adjustment for industries, the rate per unit will be Rs 37 to Rs 47, while the increase in tariff for industry alone will be net of taxes.
