Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Division adjourned the hearing of the writ petition till October 2


The court has ordered the release of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed. The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Division adjourned the hearing of the writ petition till October 2. On September 22, the Lahore High Court rejected the reply of the City Police Officer (CPO) regarding the arrest of Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and the Regional Police. Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi was summoned in his personal capacity.

Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench heard the petition filed against Sheikh Rasheed's arrest. During the hearing, CPO Rawalpindi's response regarding the arrest of Sheikh Rashid was submitted to the court. The place where the arrest was mentioned, falls within the limits of the Islamabad police station.





High Court rejected CPO's reply and summoned RPO Rawalpindi in personal capacity, the court directed that RPO Rawalpindi appear in personal capacity on September 26. It should be remembered that a few days ago Awami Muslim League chief and former federal interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed was arrested from a private housing society in Rawalpindi and shifted to an unknown location.

Sheikh Rasheed's lawyer, Advocate Sardar Abdul Raziq Khan, confirmed the arrest while talking to Dawn News.TV and said that Sheikh Rasheed was arrested and taken away from his house in a private housing society by people dressed in civilian clothes. Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, former Member of National Assembly and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed's nephew, has said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan is requested to recover former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid. In a statement, he said that any organization should provide information about Sheikh Rashid. Not doing it, no one is telling anything after knocking the door of every institution including the police.
